About The Michael Ramsey Prize

The Michael Ramsey Prize is the book award that celebrates the best contemporary theological writing in the Church. It was established in 2007 by Archbishop Rowan Williams to encourage the reading and writing of theology that “could communicate with the educated reader who was not a specialist”. Re-launched in 2023 by Archbishop Justin Welby, the prize was awarded to Frederick Christian Bauerschmidt, Professor of Theology at Loyola University Maryland and a deacon of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, in December 2023.
